Strange things Nigerians do in the name of marriage

Image
Sixty-two-year-old Adejoke Olawepo, a petty trader, almost died of shock as screams and claps went all around her. Commuting all the way from Oyingbo to Sango, Ogun State to see her daughter last Tuesday, she couldn’t understand why the train she was travelling in suddenly refused to move again after dropping off some passengers at Agege, a densely populated suburb within the Lagos metropolis. The subtle screams and claps from people inside the train who could see outside, aroused her curiosity. Leaning over a seat to peep through the window beside her, the sexagenarian could not believe the sight before her. “I was afraid; I thought the train had crushed somebody,” the elderly woman said during a conversation with our correspondent. “But when I peeped through the window, I saw that it was a young man kneeling and making gestures to a lady in front of him as if he was proposing to her. They were right on the rail track, just a few yards away from where the train sto

Fresh protests in US over police shootings of black men

Thousands took to the streets in cities across the United States on Friday to denounce the fatal shooting by police of two black men this week, marching the day after a gunman killed five police officers during a similar demonstration in Dallas. Drivers in cars honked their horns as people holding signs and chanting “hands up, don’t shoot” streamed beside them. Demonstrators also clogged roadways in New York City, Philadelphia and Oakland, with related events in San Francisco and Phoenix. Kcee had reportedly said Presh was not happy with his success but reacting to that in an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats, Presh said he doesn’t have Kcee’s time because he (Presh) is busy with his career. “There is no time to even check the time let alone having time to check on somebody’s success. Haba! Come on! That was basically why I didn’t reply when I saw what he said. I just took it as one of those things. It is not important.  It is his life; I had to keep my cool. “I wonder why Kcee should say that. I have never said I am not happy with his career. But I would advise him to face his work and stop such. I really don’t have time for such. I am more focused and I want to do better things.” Presh said he was surprised when he read what Kcee reportedly said but that he didn’t feel like responding to
