IGBOS ARE THE ARCHITECTS OF THEIR PROBLEMS: DR RAMAS ASUZU

Image
One of the most respected statesmen the East of the Niger, a Biafran War Veteran, a close friend and confidant of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, a fierce spiritualist and philanthropist extra-ordinaire, Dr. Prophet Ramas Okoye Asuzu (Ezoba Akajiofor gburugburu) has identified the egalitarian nature of the average Igbo man as being the fundamental stumbling block towards achieving self and regional emancipation. He disclosed this at his palatial palace/temple in the heart of Nri, Anaocha LGA of Anambra State when one of our correspondence paid him a courtesy visit. In his words: " the Igbos do not value what they have, everybody is enmeshed in the rat race for money and people have neglected the roles of traditional institutions in providing guidance and direction to the younger generation. money is not everything " He also chided some Igbo leaders whom he accused of abandoning their responsibilities as role models to the youths and failing to provide the ne

Yuletide: Anger as customers spend hours in ATM queues

Image
Ifeanyi Onuba, Abuja Many customers of Deposit Money Banks on Sunday expressed dissatisfaction with the poor quality of service of the various Automated Teller Machines managed by banks in the Federal Capital Territory. Our correspondent, who visited many of the ATM points, observed long queues and disruption of service by the service providers. Some of the bank ATMs visited are First City Monument Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, First Bank Plc, Skye Bank Plc, Unity Bank Plc and United Bank for Africa Plc. It was observed that while many of the ATM centres within the city centre such as those in Wuse 2, Garki, Central Business District and Maitama had less queues, the same could not be said of the satellite towns such as Lugbe, Kubwa, Dutse, Jikwoyi and Bwari, where the majority of the FCT residents live. For instance, at the FCMB and First Bank ATMs in Bwari, our correspondent observed long queues, which stretched for almost 500 metres. It was observed that out of the four

Travellers, motorists stranded as petrol sells for N400 per litre

Image
Many Nigerians on Sunday shelved their planned trips to different parts of the country for Christmas, as the current scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit pushed up transportation costs, with black market operators selling the product to desperate motorists for as much as N400 per litre. After more than a year of relief from fuel scarcity in the country, fuel queues returned to filling stations across the country in the first week of December and has worsened since then. In Lagos, many filling stations were shut while the few that sold the product had long queues of desperate motorists and other petrol seekers, with the attendants having a field day as they charged between N200 and N500 extra before selling to buyers in jerry cans. In Kano, many motorists spent at least five hours in queues at filling stations, a development a motorist, Mallam Wada Inuwa, described as “energy-sapping and agonising.” Inuwa, who wondered why fuel scarcity had become a tradition, particularly durin

'President Buhari Misquoted The Holy Bible on Christmas' - By Reno Omokri

Image
Read Reno's article below... Who writes President Buhari’s statements? His spokesman is a pastor like me, yet he ignorantly released the President’s Christmas message which said inter alia that:   “The Holy Book describes Christmas as a festival of peace, joy, healing, hope and fulfilment.“   The statement above is a fallacy. The Holy Bible does not mention the word Christmas, neither does it mention that Christians should mark any festival surrounding the birth of Jesus the Messiah (Nabi Isa in Islam).   Christmas is a European holiday, not a Christian holiday.   It is celebrated in Nigeria and much of the world, for the simple reason that it was Europeans that brought modern day Christianity to Nigeria, Africa and much of the world.   I have read the Holy Books of Judaism, Christianity and Islam and while all of them acknowledge the Messiah, NONE of them instructs believers to celebrate Christmas or the birth of Christ.   In fact, God delibe

We can no longer laugh with Buhari -El-Rufai

Image
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has admitted that he and some other people he did not name can no longer be laughing with President Muhammadu Buhari as they were doing when they were in opposition. He said in those days, he and others would be laughing and rolling on the floor of Buhari’s living room. The governor who apparently was talking about the funny aspect of the President spoke in a documentary, “Buhari: Beyond the Iron and Steel” put together by the President’s media team. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, made excerpts of the interviews in the documentary, meant to show the other side of Buhari, available on his Facebook page on Sunday. “When we were in the opposition, you needed to see how we rolled on the floor in his (Buhari’s) living room, as we laughed. Of course, we can’t do that again now,” Adesina quoted El-Rufai as saying in the documentary. Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was also quoted as conf

Image
Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has ordered the release of petrol in the government house fuel dump to two petrol stations in Ado Ekiti, to reduce the effect of fuel scarcity in the state. The governor said the fuel will be sold at N145 per litre. Fayose, who made this known through his verified Twitter Handle said, “The maximum a single individual can buy will be 25 litres.” He said; “I cannot be keeping fuel in the govt house dump while our people keep suffering. “I have asked them to pump out 80% of the petrol in the Govt House Fuel Dump to be sold at the control price of N145. “I am going to town to locate the two petrol stations where the petrol will be sold.” The governor lamented the hardship being faced by Nigerians as a result of the petrol scarcity. He said, “the APC-led federal government has turned the joy of Nigerians to groaning. People cannot travel to meet their families because of the wickedness of this APC government.  “This hardship

Support Buhari to overcome economic challenge, says Tinubu

Image
A national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday, called on Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari to resolve the country’s current economic challenges. Tinubu  made the call in a Christmas message signed by his  Media Officer, Mr Tunde Rahman in Lagos. He urged Nigerians to learn from the example of Jesus Christ “who faced and overcame the greatest evil” by uniting to overcome the country’s various challenges. ”The challenges facing the country are difficult ones. Let us unite to overcome our challenges and keep the hope alive. ”We must support President Buhari and complement his efforts in his resolve to stimulate the economy and reposition the country. ” The president needs our support, understanding and prayers. We must fully break the terrorism of Boko Haram and completely put down the last vestiges of the terrorists. ”We must continue to pray for the men in uniform who risk their lives to keep us safe and to end this scourg

#FuelScarcity: 'This Is the worst Christmas ever' - PDP

Image
The opposition party, PDP has issued an official statement on the current state of the nation, the lingering fuel scarcity and the yuletide season. The statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan the National Publicity Secretary says, ' Indeed, this is the worst Yuletide ever. There is no way one can sugarcoat the fact that the anguish Nigerians face today is because of the incompetence of the APC Government, which has also amply demonstrated that it does not care about the welfare and happiness of the citizens'. Read the full statement below... The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Nigerians not to despair but to use the occasion of this year’s Christmas to show love, care and encourage one another regardless of religious, ethnic and political inclinations. The party said it is disheartening that Nigerians could not merrily celebrate the yuletide due to the current biting economic hardship worsened by acute fuel shortage, all due to the shambolic

''My arrest had no ethnic undertone… it was about business'' Innoson chairman, Innocent Chukwuma says

Image
The Chairman of Innoson motors, Innocent Chukwuma, who had a faceoff with the EFCC last week, has said that his arrest and detention by the antigraft agency had no ethnic or tribal undertone. Speaking with newmen at his hometown in Nnewi, Anambra state yesterday Saturday December 23rd, the automobile company chairman, said EFCC arrested him because of his faceoff with GT bank over the ''illegal'' deduction of N400 million from his account for over 11 years. He said immediately he found out about the deductions, he consulted an auditor who tabulated the correct amount which the bank agreed to refund but later reneged. To ensure that the bank pays him his money, he filed a lawsuit against them at the High Court and Court of Appeal where he won. He said he was surprised that the bank could involve the EFCC to arrest him even when they were the one in debt. He thanked President Buhari, Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, some Igwes, Emirs and Obas and

Falz’s First Ever Concert, 'The Falz Experience' to Gulp N300 Million

Image
Super-talented Nigerian entertainer, Falz the Bahd Guy is hosting the biggest concert of 2017 titled The Falz Experience and it’s going to be a big deal. This is not because it’s his first but because of the cost of producing the show in entirety which sources have revealed costs a whooping N300 million. This cost incurred ranges from event production handled by Livespot and Bahd Guys Entertainment, the superfluous venue at Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, the cost of A-list artistes billed to perform at the event - Olamide, Davido, Simi, Yemi Alade, Reekado Banks, Reminisce, among others. Insiders say the lawyer-turned entertainer is funding the big budget event in cash and kind - relying on goodwill of colleagues, securing the support of many media partners, and raising money from many enthusiastic sponsors, including some key Nigerian brands, and individuals. “All I can say is that this show is costing us a lot of time, energy, planning, goo
