WE WILL NOT NEGOTIATE WITH BANDITS - NIGER STATE GOVERNOR

  Niger state's Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has ruled negotiation with bandits amid an influx of bandits who enter into the state through the Benin Republic border.    Addressing State House reporters after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on the rising insecurity and infrastructural decay in the state, Bello said he ruled out negotiating with the criminals because they don’t keep to any agreement. He added that he once reluctantly negotiated with the bandits, but it never produced any positive result.   The Governor who alleged that “the bandits are Fulanis that have no one to control them even their parents", said the menace of bandits in the state had become a source of worry to the government.   Bello revealed that the bandits come to the state through the neighbouring Kaduna and Katsina states, and also added that local security had been helpful in curtailing the activities of the criminals who are invited by some locals.   He

  12-year-old Blessing Ineh, who reportedly went missing in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta, has been found alive inside a soakaway.    It was gathered the the young girl was last seen on New Year Day after she was sent on an errand by her parents.      She was found inside a soakaway located behind her family house on Tuesday, January 5, after a child heard her whimpering and raised an alarm.    According to reports by popular Warri online news portal, Warri Aproko, the young girl was abducted by three men, allegedly stabbed on the back and her throat slit before she was dumped in the soakaway.    Her body was found covered in white chalk which seems to suggest that it was a case of attempted ritual murder by suspected internet fraudsters.   The victim is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.      Meanwhile, it was further learnt that Blessing revealed that her neighbour identified smply as "General" was one of the men behind the dasta

FCMB APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR

  The First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has announced the appointment of Yemisi Edun as its acting managing director.   Edun takes over the running of the bank from the Managing Director, Adam Nuru, who on Tuesday, January 5, proceeded on leave amid allegations of marital infidelity involving him and a former staff of the bank, Moyo Thomas. There are allegations that Moyo's estranged husband, Tunde Thomas, 45, died on December 16, 2020, from a heart attack after battling with depression upon discovering that the two children from their marriage were allegedly fathered by Mr Nuru. TEACHER FAKES HIS OWN KIDNAP TO COLLECT N250,000

  The police in Kwara state have arrested a 24-year-old teacher, Medinat Ibrahim,  for allegedly faking her own kidnap just to extort N250, 000 from her father.   Medinat, who was paraded alongside two other suspects identified as Amudalat Wahab (30) and Hammed Lekan (28) said she committed the crime to raise money to settle a debt which accrued from the monthly contribution at the private school where she serves as a teacher.   She alleged she was maltreated by her stepmother who also caused friction between her and her father, adding that she decided to fake her own kidnap to get money to offset debts she incurred during COVID-19 lockdown.   I teach in a private school where I was paid N15,000. 14 KILLED IN GHASTLY AUTO CRASH

  At least fourteen persons were killed in an accident along Lokoja-Obajana road in Kogi State on Wednesday afternoon, January 6.    It was gathered that the accident involved a bus and a truck conveying cement from Obajana occurred at Old Akpata village.     According to an eye witness account, the accident occurred as a result of dangerous overtaking by the driver of the bus that was heading to Kabba. NIMC LAGOS RESUMES STRIKE ACTION

  Members of staff of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Lagos State have gone on strike.   According to the striking workers, they decided to take this action to press home their demand for better welfare packages from the government. According to the workers, the recent increase in the number of visitors at their different offices and stations for registration of National Identification Number (NIN) has caused a lot of stress for the workers. The aggrieved workers say they need to be paid more for conducting the exercise which he described as an extra duty.   They also accused the government of not putting in place measures to ensure their safety while carrying out their duties. They decried the lack of protective kits at the office, saying they could get infected with COVID-19 as they attend to hundreds of residents daily.

KANAYO O. KANAYO BLASTS FOLLOWERS

  Kanayo O. Kanayo lost patience with his followers who joked about him being involved in money rituals.   The actor shared a video of him paying homage to Ezinne Victoria Okonkwo Anyanwu, the mother of veteran actor Chika Anyanwu, as she turns 100.     Some followers responded by making inappropriate jokes about him using the older woman as a human sacrifice in "ogoni". Their comments stem from Kanayo's roles in most movies.   But Kanayo didn't think it funny and he called them out.
