President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick, has questioned CAF's awards criteria after Victor Moses was snubbed by the organisers. Earlier this week, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced its final shortlists for its 2018 awards, listing Liverpool duo: Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane and Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the three-man list. Now, NFF boss needs an explanation why the Super Eagles and Chelsea winger failed to make the final cut for the Player of the Year gong, despite playing so highly at his club and country in 2017. Speaking to Citi Sports, Pinnick said: “I’m not happy because I feel that Moses should be part of the last three "The only reason why [Riyad] Mahrez won the award last year was because of what he did with Leicester [City]. "And Moses helped Chelsea to win the league; played in the FA Cup final; and helped Nigeria qualify for the World Cup. So I wonder why." ...

Immediate past Senate President, David Mark, has reacted to the allegation leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC that he purchased his house in Apo Legislative Quarters Abuja without following due process. The antigraft agency last week invited Mark to their office to answer questions on how he purchased his mansion in the posh Apo quarters. EFCC had alleged that while he was still the Senate President, he used his office to acquire the mansion without following due process. Mark in his defence issued a statement yesterday, saying that the EFCC's allegation is 'spurious, contrived and baseless.” In the statement signed by his media assistant, Paul Mumeh, the former Senate president says he never flouted any laws while purchasing his Abuja house. 26-year-old Nigerian poet and English teacher has been named as London’s first Young People’s Laureate. Caleb Femi was given the prestigious role by a panel of arts bodies and individual judges, including The Roundhouse, the Poetry Society and Jacob Sam-La Rose. The poet, teacher and photographer has been given the responsibility to raise the awareness of poetry in the capital, nationally and internationally. Spread the Word's young laureate initiative funded by the Foundation for Future London, follows the young poet laureate for London scheme, a position held in the past by Warsan Shire, the Somali-British poet who hit the headlines for her role in Beyonce's visual album 'Lemonade' and also Aisling Fahey and Selina Nwulu The laureate will also support the development of aspiring poets and youths, through development initiatives such as Poetry Lab and raising issues that affect them in his prose.
